Visiting our farm, collecting eggs from our hens and feeding the animals can become the best amusement park for your children.
The smells, the wood, the stone, the earth... the objects that have so lovingly survived to the present day, the meals, the magic of the collective, the union with nature... there are many sensations that the person who visits Casa Lourán can experience in the form of memories.
'It reminds me of grandma's house', 'ay... this smell of smoke', 'the taste of milk...', are common words that symbolize the melancholy and the joy of moving to a time that ran unhurriedly, that connects us with the essence of life itself.
The hearth, the centre of the Galician house. All life flowed around the hearth. At home, people cooked and ate, at home they talked, at home they told stories, scary or funny, they sang, they played, they dreamt. Home gave warmth to people's existence.
In our house, the hearth continues to be a meeting place, the fire presides over our living room in any season of the year when the weather is fine.
The fire in our house roasts chestnuts in autumn, dries our boots after a rainy day, accompanies conversations. The fire is not a decorative element, but the fire in the Lourán house is full of life.
The pleasure of conversation or the pleasure of silence; the pleasure of walking or the pleasure of rest; the pleasure of adventure or the pleasure of reading.
There are many and varied pleasures to be found in an area where time is unhurried and the spaces are green and full of life.
Lying in the hammock listening to the birds, chatting in company in the gazebo overlooking the orchard or making a fire in the fireplace are some of the pleasures that the simplicity of life gives us.
The great pleasure of walking without haste, the stroll, the walk along the paths that lead you to humble destinations capable of immersing you in the simplest of pleasures.
From our house you can go down to the river Canedo, visit the mill of Lourán, a place full of charm, a pillar of the farming economy of other times or reach the Chapel of the Ascension located in the Serra da Loba from where you can see a beautiful panoramic view of the Val de Xestoso.
During the walks we can find different samples of autochthonous fauna, spot birds, cross meadows surrounded by hedges, cross old bridges or enter leafy forests.
To appreciate the beauty of a starry sky you don't need to be a great astronomy specialist. Meteor showers, the moon, the visible planets or constellations can be seen in skies far away from cities as a gift that gives us peace and inspiration.
The landscapes of a firmament hold a lot of surprises in the immensity of the sky just by looking up.
Light pollution is minimal in the sky above our house, every night, every meteorological phenomenon, can become a marvellous spectacle.
Special mention should be made of the tears of San Lorenzo in August, which fill the sky above our house with shooting stars for which you can make a wish.
